FC Zwolle’s biggest fear became reality on Friday night . ”The Blue Fingers” have lost their first position in the Jupiler League in the penultimate round to RKC. Art Langeler’s team drew 0-0 with FC Den Bosch and is now two points behind the new title favourites from Waalwijk.
Zwolle once had a thirteen points lead on the rest of the Jupiler League, but this huge margin has been cut short in the last month. Last Friday, Zwolle lost 3-0 to RKC and tonight they finally lost the lead by drawing at home.
RKC did a great job at home by hammering RBC Roosendaal 7-0 . The club from Waalwijk has overtaken FC Zwolle (0-0 tie against FC Den Bosch) as league leaders. And with 7-0 victory, RKC now has a better goal difference than Zwolle.
A victory on the final matchday against Fortuna Sittard means promotion to the Eredivisie for RKC. A draw is enough if Zwolle does not win by more than two goals at Cambuur Leeuwarden.
RKC was from the twelfth minute with an extra man on the field following Brock’s red card. Fred Benson opened the scoring from the spot.Donny de Groot scored a hattrick.
